Google Business Profile: A How-To Guide for Towing Companies

Google Business Profile improvement tips for towing companies

Last updated: December 2025

🔎In this article: learn about using your Google Business Profile — how to create or claim, then verify, how to manage your profile and ensure potential customers are finding accurate information, and how to use customer reviews to boost your visibility and credibility.

When a potential customer needs towing services and heads to Google to search “towing company near me,” the very first section on the search engine results page contains a list and map view of the nearest Google Business Profiles. You want to be on that list. Without your own free profile, you will miss out on towing jobs!

Claim Your Google Business Profile

Your first step is to either create a new profile or claim ownership of an existing one for your towing business. You can do this via an automated phone call, SMS text message, or by requesting a physical postcard. Google will send it to your office with a verification code and instructions on where to submit.

Congratulations! The first, and most important, step in claiming or verifying your profile is complete.

Manage Your Google Business Profile

Now it’s time to manage your profile. To do this, log in to the Google Account you used to verify your towing business profile. From either a Google Search result or using Google Maps, you can select “Your Business Profile” to edit all of the profile details. These details will be things like:

  • Business name and address
  • Primary business category, to help customers find you in relevant searches
  • Contact information  and hours of operation
  • Business description — this should summarize your business and include areas of specialization, such as heavy duty and/or light duty towing, recovery, and any specialized services you offer.
  • Photos and logos

To best optimize your profile, ensure your contact information, especially your phone number, is correct. If you have a website, include that URL, and also add your hours of operation. Chances are you will want to select Open 24 Hours so potential customers know you’re available at all times.

Receiving and Managing Customer Reviews

Now that you’ve verified and managed your Google Business Profile, you can begin collecting Customer Reviews to provide even greater visibility to your listing and transparency to potential customers.
